چکیده

We study graph-theoretic properties of the trace of a random walk on a random graph. We show that for any ε > 0 there exists C > 1 such that the trace of the simple random walk of length (1 + ε)n lnn on the random graph G ∼ G(n, p) for p > C lnn/n is, with high probability, Hamiltonian and Θ(lnn)-connected. In the special case p = 1 (i.e. when G = Kn), we show a hitting time result according to which, with high probability, exactly one step after the last vertex has been visited, the trace becomes Hamiltonian, and one step after the last vertex has been visited for the k’th time, the trace becomes 2k-connected.

Periodic Walks on Large Regular Graphs and Random Matrix Theory

We study the distribution of the number of (non-backtracking) periodic walks on large regular graphs. We propose a formula for the ratio between the variance of the number of t-periodic walks and its mean, when the cardinality of the vertex set V and the period t approach ∞ with t/V → τ for any τ . This formula is based on the conjecture that the spectral statistics of the adjacency eigenvalues...

Processes on Unimodular Random Networks

We investigate unimodular random networks. Our motivations include their characterization via reversibility of an associated random walk and their similarities to unimodular quasi-transitive graphs. We extend various theorems concerning random walks, percolation, spanning forests, and amenability from the known context of unimodular quasi-transitive graphs to the more general context of unimodu...

A PRELUDE TO THE THEORY OF RANDOM WALKS IN RANDOM ENVIRONMENTS

A random walk on a lattice is one of the most fundamental models in probability theory. When the random walk is inhomogenous and its inhomogeniety comes from an ergodic stationary process, the walk is called a random walk in a random environment (RWRE). The basic questions such as the law of large numbers (LLN), the central limit theorem (CLT), and the large deviation principle (LDP) are ...

Random and Pseudo-Random Walks on Graphs

Random walks on graphs have turned out to be a powerful tool in the design of algorithms and other applications. In particular, expander graphs, which are graphs on which random walks have particularly good properties, are extremely useful in complexity and other areas of computer science. In this chapter we study random walks on general regular graphs, leading to a the randomized logspace algo...
